Welcome to my website. On these pages I will be posting the descendants of the Smith and Renner lines. At this point there are several hundred separate surnames and I will be posting a good portion of those as time goes on. To start with, and until I get more familiar with the workings of the website in general, and html language in particular, I will stay fairly close to the main trunk of the tree. As I get more comfortable working with the website and the tools available to me I will begin to branch out with more in depth information. If you find anything on this website that is of interest to you, or one of my family members that might tie in with your research, feel free to contact me and we can exchange information. A few of the things that I hope to accomplish with this website is to find some of the people that I have been unable to find any other way, and at the same time provide information that might help someone else to identify missing descendants. I also hope to add a few links to other sites which are informative and offer much needed help to the person just starting out as well as the experienced researcher.

My genealogy research started off innocently enough. I was going to make a simple Family Tree that I could give to my three children so that they could see who their ancestors were and where the family had originated. I figured that I was in my fifties, all of the children were grown up and out on their own, and one of the children had been feeling somewhat on the melancholy. We had just lost her grandmother, my mother, and she was feeling sad that she hadn't been able to see her before she died. She was also feeling sad that her grandfather was selling his home to go and live in a retirement center. I decided then I would make the children a family tree that they could use to trace their heritage. That was over six years ago. The children still don't have the Family Tree and I am now thinking about writing a book instead of one chart.

Don't you wish it was yours. Me too.

A word of caution to those of you just starting out on your genealogy quest. It can be addicting. I cannot begin to tell you the number of nights that I stayed up until the early morning hours trying to find that one more name on the internet. It can be rewarding and frustrating at the same time, but if you are really into genealogy it can be the most fun you can have on a weekend with your clothes on.
